Alcohol: Responsible Retailing BIIAB Award Level 1

The course will involove looking at the nature of alcohol, common measurements of alcohol content and the effect it has on the human body, the main issues in the 2003 Licensing Act, the protection of children, sale, consumption, and other activities, recommended forms of proof of age, how to recognise and handle drunkenness of customers and the importance of doing so in relation to the law and the social responsibilities, potential causes of conflict and crime, appropriate strategies to prevent and eliminate these and the importance of personal safety.

In this course you will learn the roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities within the framework of the licensing objectives, application process for a personal licence, role and responsibilities of the personal licence holder. In addition, you will learn about the premises licence, content and purpose of operating schedules, strength of alcoholic drinks, effects of alcohol on the body, protection of children from harm and responsible sale of alcohol.
