The Complete Drawing and Painting Course Provided by Haverhill Leap Centre The aim of the course is to enable all students, whatever their ability from beginners to advanced, to develop their artistic skills using a range of media and techniques and to respond to a variety of subject matter. In a relaxed atmosphere students will be encouraged to try out new skills and techniques and enjoy developing their creativity. The course will be tailored to suit individual needs. The various techniques of drawing and painting will be taught, according to students needs. There will be a focus each term, e.g. still life, the figure/portrait and landscape which can be altered to suit the individual, and students will be encouraged to bring in things as starting points for pieces. The elements of art will be covered including line, tone, form, colour, texture, pattern composition, light and perspective. Students will be able to develop ideas and experiment with a range of materials including pencil, charcoal, pastel, aquarelle, inks, collage, basic printmaking, mixed media and different types of painting. There will be an introduction to art history relating to the theme each term and students will be encouraged to look at the work of other artists. A gallery visit may be arranged. Students will produce a sketchbook of work as well as individual pieces which might be on paper, board or canvas |

We will concentrate on the medium of watercolour and its related media (line & wash, water soluable and pastel pencils etc) However, if some students would like to explore, on an individual basis other forms of 2 dimensional media - graphite drawings, acrylics or pastels (not oil painting) this would be encouraged. |
