ADR Initial & Refresher Training

All drivers within the scope of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (Driver Training) Regulations 1996 must be trained and hold a Vocational Training Certificate issued by DVLA. This is required by UK regulations implementing the relevant EU directive. Courses must be approved by DfT and drivers must pass the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) examinations which are integrated in the courses. There are no 'grandfather rights' and compulsory refresher training must be completed within the five year expiry of the date of issue of the original certificate. The maximum number of delegates per course is 16. In-company courses can also be scheduled. Please note that time spent attending the ADR course will count as duty time under Driver Hours Law Regulations 561/2006

Corporate Driver Training and SAFED

Driver CPC

Driver CPC is being introduced across the European Union to maintain high driving standards and improve road safety. All professional bus, coach and lorry drivers must hold a Driver CPC if they want to drive for a living. It is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of lorry and bus drivers throughout their working life - helping: road safety (and thus all road users), the road freight and passenger transport industries (better staff performance, better recruitment and retention, more economical vehicle usage), professional drivers (skill levels and maintenance, career opportunities, professionalism,) the environment (reduced fuel consumption and vehicle wear).

Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competency)

There are two parts to the legislation: The Initial Qualification that must be achieved by new LGV and PCV drivers along with their vocational licence to enable them to use their licence professionally. Periodic Training, which involves all professional drivers undertaking 35 hours of training over a five year period.
