Provided by University Campus Suffolk BA (Hons) Design is a unique degree taught in a friendly and supportive environment which embraces a range of disciplines in the first year with the opportunity to specialise in year two. This broad based approach enables students to produce some highly original and innovative work. Students on the course have a strong record of winning national competitions and gaining meaningful employment upon graduation. Past students have progressed to employment in graphic/textile design studios, advertising agencies, publishers, teaching, arts administration, fashion and interior accessories, textiles, furniture and ceramic design. Others have set up their own studios and worked on a freelance or self employed basis. Students have also progressed to postgraduate level at a number of institutions including the Royal College of Art. The well lit studios have fantastic views of the sea and create an inspiring atmosphere in which to learn. |

This course is designed for people who want to improve both the look and the quality of their dressmaking. Students will learn tips and techniques so that they can carry out basic dress-making and alterations. Course Content Students will start by using a pattern to obtain an exact fit. With this pattern you will be able to produce a carefully constructed garment of your choice, concentrating on expert tailoring and sewing skills to achieve a perfect fit and a professional finish |

Well-equipped studio spaces and professional expertise give students the opportunity to develop creative and practical abilities within the field. Regular visits are organised to museums, galleries and fashion trade events including 'Premier Vision' in Paris and 'Direction' in New York, as well as visits to other European cities. Research can be undertaken using the excellent community learning resource centre with subscriptions to trade publications, online facilities and the networked learning environment |

Fun with Textiles- Futures - Short Course Provided by Great Yarmouth College This course offers a brief introduction into the exciting world of textiles. This practical based course will give you hands-on experience working with a range of textiles techniques. Discover the art of block, transfer and screen printing, tie-dye and batik and take this opportunity to produce your own design bags, cushions or wall hangings to take home with you. No previous experience is required. You will need to provide some of your own materials for this course, the tutor will advise during the first class. (10 hours delivered over 4 weeks) |
